The Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm F/2.8-4 ASPH. lens consists of 18 elements in six moving groups, including four aspherical elements and 11 made from anomalous partial dispersion glasses to correct chromatic aberrations. Only one lightweight element is moved for focusing.

Fast, near-silent, and precise focusing is achieved through a stepper motor and linear positioning, ensuring the lens length remains unchanged. The included rectangular lens hood effectively reduces reflections, stray light, and flare.
